Jess Truslow has served high school students and their families for over twenty-five years. She provides focused, one-on-one guidance and expertise to simplify the college selection and application processes.

Jess Truslow is passionate about working with high school students. She has been highly successful in helping adolescents actualize their goals as a result of strong credentials and extensive secondary school experience.

After graduating from Phillips Exeter Academy and Colby College, Jess started her career as the Director of Parent and Alumni Relations at Proctor Academy. There she realized her passion for working with high school-aged students through advising, coaching, and teaching. To pursue that passion, Jess joined the faculty at Hebron and then Governors Academies, where she taught science, and coached varsity lacrosse, field hockey, and ice hockey. As a result of her innovative teaching, Jess earned a fellowship to attend Columbia University’s prestigious Klingenstein Summer Institute.

After completing her first Master’s Degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education, Jess worked as the Assistant Principal at Groton-Dunstable Regional and Concord-Carlisle Regional High Schools for over 13 years before returning to graduate school again to earn a second Master’s Degree in School Counseling. With this degree and MA state licensure, Jess focused on college counseling and student advocacy work as a high school guidance counselor. Most recently, Jess served families from Boston and Belmont as a school guidance counselor at Belmont High School.

During her five-year tenure as a school guidance counselor, Jess worked with 120 juniors and seniors each year. Jess developed strong relationships with college admissions counselors and attended numerous professional development events, including Harvard University’s Summer Conference for College Admissions Counselors and the New England Association of College Admissions Counselors’ Summer Institute. A life-long learner, Jess is passionate about analyzing admissions trends and keeping up-to-date with the ever-changing admissions landscape. As part of that effort, Jess has joined the Independent Educational Consultants Association through which she is able to keep abreast of all the latest college admission-related information for her clients.

When not working with her students, Jess can be found in her garden, cycling, recreating outdoors, or enjoying her children. She lives with her husband, Arthur Trapotsis, and her two sons in Arlington, MA.
